Travel is one of the most exhilarating activities a person can complete. It allows you to reach your ultimate potential in many aspects of one’s own life including the mind, body and soul. We all have our individual tastes, but as a traveler I think all journeys have a common theme of adventure. Whether you want to take an actual adventure or get lost in a book I have selected five books that I believe every traveler should read and each title incorporates adventure. Each book is exciting to read before a journey, during a journey, upon return from a journey or from a couch pretending you are on a journey. I hope you will take the time to read some of these titles and enjoy the adventure!
- The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo
- Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
- The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
- The Great Railway Bazaar by Paul Theroux
- Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig
I am a certified secondary social studies teacher [grades 7-12] and a certified school librarian [grades K-12]. In addition to teaching and traveling I am also an avid reader. I love to get lost in a good book and dream about adventure. Thankfully for me I am wanderlust and make my dreams a reality through travel. I hope you enjoy the weekend by becoming wanderlust with one of these influential titles.
I would love to know what your favorite travel books are! If you have one please write it in the comments.
